Universal steel columns and universal beams (I Beams) have a striking resemblance and both serve a similar purpose. Universal columns are also called H beams, lintels, or girders and are crucial for any significant structural work in building construction. They can also make excellent load-bearing support beams. Unlike steel beams, which support loads horizontally across the entire length, columns hold loads vertically across the entire axis.

CHANNEL

PFC steel channels are renowned for their increased robustness and durability, much like steel beams and steel columns. PFC beams offer greater design flexibility as they can be used as columns, lintels above doors or floor support joists, thanks to their larger load-bearing profile. They are frequently used alongside standard universal beams or universal columns and other structural steel products. PFC channels are the most environmentally-friendly and cost-effective type of structural steel owing to their minimal consumption during manufacturing.

BOX SECTION

Square hollow sections (SHS) and rectangular hollow sections (RHS) are two exemplary products of steel tube and box profiles, with smooth edges that don’t crack or bend easily. These steel box sections, much like other hollow section steel (HSS) products such as steel pipes or circular hollow sections (CHS), are long and sturdy metal profiles with expansive cross-sections. The bars have open ends, giving them more of an open tube appearance rather than that of a solid steel bar.

ANGLE

Steel angle bars are a versatile and durable option for reinforcing buildings. The L-shape design with equal or unequal legs makes them suitable for various applications. Additionally, the use of corrosion-resistant coatings or primers increases their lifespan and durability.

FLAT

Mild steel flat sections and bearing plates are a combination of the strength of structural steel and increased malleability due to reduced carbon content. This makes them less likely to snap or break. Apart from improved malleability, flat bars are also highly recyclable and reusable. They are easy to work with and are great solutions in the construction of steel frame buildings, trailers, vehicle parts, industrial tools, support braces and much more. Flat plates and bars can be easily cut, welded, drilled and can be joined using steel welding processes or with fixings such as screws, rivets, and bolts.

SOLID BARS

Steel round bars are strong, solid mild steel tubes that are easy to handle. They are widely used in the construction industry for applications such as threaded bars in gates, railways, shafts, and fencing
